Charter Starter™ Program
in the BVI
Have you recently received your ASA certification and are ready to take the next step in your sailing adventure? Has it been a while since you completed your training or since you’ve been on the water to practice your skills? If you are a certified ASA skipper looking for a great way to step into the world of bareboat chartering, then Top Tier Sailing’s Charter Starter™ program is the perfect fit.

Sailing the British Virgin Islands

The Charter Starter™ course is the perfect follow-up for ASA certified students looking to get more sailing experience with a qualified sailing instructor before jumping on an unfamiliar “bareboat charter” all on their own. You chart the daily course, you run the boat, you are the captain! But just in case you want some more practice on certain sailing skills or just some helpful advice and guidance, your own personal ASA instructor will be there to help you figure it out, all while you enjoy a fantastic vacation exploring the beautiful British Virgin Islands on our luxury catamaran “Obsession.”
For those guests not looking to practice sailing skills and who just want a luxurious and private getaway, then look no further. We also offer private charters exploring the many beautiful islands of the BVI. Snorkeling in some of the most beautiful water on the planet, dining at fine beach restaurants, or lounging around enjoying a refreshing cocktail on a pristine beach are just a few of the many amazing experiences offered on a Top Tier Sailing private charter. Guests will find they can enjoy much more of the British Virgin Islands on a charter boat instead of a large cruise ship. Because there isn’t a slew of guests on board, you can adjust itineraries to match the things you want to do and have access to even more amazing BVI experiences.

BVI Restaurants and Attractions

Once you've decided that a BVI vacation is in your future, you can start selecting different restaurants and attractions to enjoy while you're out exploring the islands. There are some stops that you absolute “must-visits” while you're out on your private charter.

CocoMaya

CocoMaya is located in Spanish Town, one of the hottest locations in the BVI. The menu has an Asian influence, with Caribbean and Asian flavors fused together for some of the best sushi in the islands. Not only is the menu full of beautiful dishes, but the views are amazing. In the evening, the patio lights up in the evening to bring locals and tourists together for a great dining and entertaining experience.

The Baths and White Bay
If you want to learn about the history of the BVI and check out some of the best-kept secrets, you'll need a tour of The Baths and White Bay. Head up and experience the hidden caves that were used by pirates for hundreds of years. You can learn a lot about this smuggling route and how it brought attractions and built up the British Virgin Islands.
North Sound, Virgin Gorda
Located on the northern tip of Virgin Gorda, North Sound is a protected body of water surrounded by several smaller islands. There are several bars, restaurants, and shops in the various anchorages, but the two most famous are the Saba Rock and Bitter End Resorts. Established in the 1960’s and rebuilt after Hurricane Irma in 2018, both these resorts offer exactly what one expects from Caribbean hospitality. From gourmet dining to pizza and specialty breakfast pastries, you can find it all in North Sound. Enjoy water sports at the resorts and then sunset drinks overlooking this beautiful area and marvel at the twinkling of anchor lights as darkness settles over this gorgeous corner of the BVI.
Foxy’s Bar, Jost Van Dyke
World-famous Foxy’s Tamarind Bar is a must-stop on any sail through the BVI. Located in Great Harbour on Jost Van Dyke, Foxy’s has been serving up rum, food and fun since 1968. Special BBQ nights are made even better when the music starts and dancers hit the floor. A true Island experience, a stop at Foxy’s is sure to be a memorable one.
Cooper Island
An anchorage at Cooper Island Beach Club will delight your entire group. The eco-friendly resort boasts its own micro-brewery, one of the largest rum collections in the Caribbean and a locally sourced dining experience that is sure to please every palate. The comfortable bar areas on the beach are the perfect place to unwind after a long day on the water.
