Introduction to Sailing: You will learn sailing terminology, parts of a sailboat, and essential safety procedures. You will also learn about different types of sailboats and their components.

Wind and Weather: It is crucial to understand wind direction, speed, and how they affect the sailboat’s movement. You will learn to assess weather conditions and make informed decisions based on wind patterns.

Points of Sail: Sailboats can navigate in different directions relative to the wind. You will learn about the various points of sail, including upwind (close-hauled), reaching, and downwind (running).

Sail Trim: Proper sail trim is essential for achieving optimum boat speed and control. You will learn how to adjust the sails, including the mainsail and jib, to harness the power of the wind efficiently.

Tacking and Jibing: Changing direction while sailing is done through tacking (turning into the wind) and jibing (turning away from the wind). You will learn the techniques involved in these maneuvers.

Boat Handling: You will learn basic boat handling skills such as steering, stopping, and reversing. You will learn how to control the boat’s speed, use the rudder effectively, and understand the concept of momentum.

Safety Procedures: Safety is paramount in sailing. You will learn essential safety procedures, including the proper use of personal flotation devices (PFDs), rules of right-of-way, and how to respond to emergencies or capsizing.
